Migge: The troll, the scarf, and the crow (2006)
In my combined Fine Arts and Creative Writing Final Project, the main final product was this - an illustrated hand-bound book. It was essential for me to capture the living structure of the forest, and for the colors and atmosphere of the story to be visible already in the cover of the book. The feathers that have been woven into a knitted "moss" hint at the most important secondary character in the story - a crow. The clear beads of various sizes inspire the feeling of morning dew.
This was on display in an exhibition and part of a larger display containing "bottled memories" and a large-scale triptych of forest scenery from within the story.
Cardboard, cloth, bark, feathers, knitted yarn, beads, wool
