Near & Far (06.2001) paperclip

We were assigned to create an image that demonstrates depth. Everything in the background was to be fuzzier and lighter and the foreground was to be darker and more detailed. This was a task we had to perform using charcoal, black crayon, and putty clay. I know, I know, it's the old "The scanner mangled my picture!"-excuse, but I almost never use it. So here it comes: this piece actually looks rather different in 'real life'. Also, here in its shrunk form, it loses some of its intensity.
